Versatility of Teak Bar Stools

in Teak Furniture

Teak bar stools are more versatile than standard bar stools because the teak wood allows you to use them both indoors and outdoors. If you wanted to put them outside next to the BBQ or place them on the deck next to the railing or even near a pool, you can do so without worry of water damage. Teak wood is very dense, so dense in fact, that after a teak tree is felled it won’t even float on water. Natural oils in teak wood make it very resistant to water and moisture in general.

If you were to use a teak bar stool in an outdoor area you don’t have to worry about brining it in from the rain. If you keep them in a basement, you don’t have to be concerned about mold and mildew as much as you would with a regular bar stool. Teak wood has natural anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties that will hamper the growth of these things.

Teak combats more than just weather and moisture. It is also a great way to keep temperature variance under control. A metal or plastic stool can get dangerously hot if left in the hot sun. Teak wood will only feel warm in comparison. Cold weather and metal could cause your flesh to stick and injury to result. You won’t have the same problem with teak wood furniture. It will feel cold to the touch, but you won’t stick to it and it will warm under your touch in a short period of time.

Some outdoor furniture made of plastic could be of concern in slightly windy conditions. If you forget to bring the furniture in overnight you might wake up to find your plastic stool in the back yard of a neighbor’s house. You might have the same problem with teak wood, but not because of the wind, more than likely your neighbor will be a bit jealous and might want to ‘borrow’ your teak wood furniture.

Keeping wooden furniture inside can pose challenges as well. Many times, wooden furniture is heavy and clunky and can detract from the overall décor. Teak wood is rich and beautiful to look at and because of the strength of teak it can hold up well under very heavy loads. Properly dried teak wood will be light weight and sturdy and won’t appear to be as bulky as its counterparts.

The versatility of teak wood goes even further. When it comes to cleaning most wooden furniture, you have to be very careful to not leave it wet, and to use the proper cleaners so ensure you don’t mar the finish. Teak wood doesn’t even need to have a finish applied to it to make it look good or protect it from moisture.

When cleaning your bar stools simply take them outside and hose them off with a standard garden hose. For really sticky things, regular soap and a washcloth will do the trick; just make sure to rinse your teak bar stools with water when you’re done to avoid soap scum.
